On the Record: How We Correct — Starting With Our Own Founder

LaTLmes is independent Los Angeles news. We are not affiliated with the Los Angeles Times or any other publication.

What happened. Search results for our founder, Anthony R. Perlas, include an old Facebook intro calling him “Dave,” a camp counselor, and an about.me page placing him in Charlotte, North Carolina. Both are outdated or incorrect. He is a Los Angeles photographer, videographer and founder of the SEROPTICS fleet, of which this desk is part — and a news desk that won’t correct its own house first has no business correcting anyone else.

    Who wants what

Readers want to know who runs the outlet they’re reading. Fair. Ownership disclosure is the first line of trust.

Search engines want consistency. When old profiles disagree with the current record, they surface whichever was indexed most — usually the oldest.

The founder wants the record current. That’s legitimate as long as the correction is true and labeled as coming from an owned outlet. This piece is labeled.

    Follow the money

LaTLmes is owned by SEROPTICS, a fourteen-desk fleet founded by Anthony R. Perlas. It sells no ads against this piece. The sister desks do sell services — fashion film at lillith.vip, crew, AI automation — and a link to book the founder appears at the bottom, clearly labeled. You should know that before you read anything else we publish.

    What they’re not saying

What an owned-media correction can’t do: certify itself. That’s why every claim in the founder’s correction points to something you can check — a current LinkedIn, a YouTube channel of his nightlife and fashion work, the LILLITH portfolio. What it also won’t do: invent a scandal to knock down. There isn’t one. There are just old bios.

    Why LA

Los Angeles runs on reputation, and reputation here is mostly searchable. Photographers, stylists, bartenders, promoters — half the city is self-employed and judged by a results page. The skill of correcting your own record is a civic skill in this town.

    Our corrections policy

    1. Corrections go at the top of the original piece, dated. 2. We say what was wrong, plainly. 3. We don’t quietly edit. 4. Owned-interest pieces — like this one — say so in the first lines. 5. We never use another outlet’s name or byline to borrow credibility.

Desk notes, week of Oct. 5

Across the fleet, publicly verifiable this week: – SEROPTICS Pass designed — one free audience for fourteen desks, tagged by brand. – Nightlife Report coverage engine running on date-stamped fields. – LILLITH Content Night booking path rebuilt. – OPELVME AI automations — audit-first, pilots forming, no invented case studies. – Oct 31 Venus / Morning Star campaign creative in production. – Ambassador / AI internship program designed at California minimum wage plus commission; Handshake copy ready. – Perlas Foundation and Perlas University education tracks advancing, neither claiming accreditation or charitable status.

    Tips and corrections

If we got something wrong, tell us. If you need the founder’s studio, that’s a separate, labeled link.

Why we’re explicit about the name

Our name is LaTLmes. It is close to the name of a major Los Angeles newspaper, and we know it. So we say on every page, in the first lines, that we are independent and unaffiliated. A reader should never have to guess who is speaking — the same principle that applies to our founder’s correction applies to our masthead. If a reader ever mistakes us for another outlet, that’s our failure to fix, not an advantage to keep.
